Music is a Drug

Music is a drug delivered by the Auditory system.  Just as other drugs are delivered orally, transdermaly, by injection, sublingually and by inhalation.   Thus music is a drug that enters your body through your hearing.  It can produce many effects.   It will make you happy, make you sad,  and can even give you the energy to work out.  It can bring you comfort in difficult times and reassure you that things will be ok!   It can remind you that you are not alone and the people making these songs welcome you to their tribe.

Thus we always go back to a good song  because we love the way the drug makes us feel .   It often makes us happy and brings back powerful memories.  I still remember where I was the first time I heard “Every Breathe you Take” playing on the radio.   Songs are the soundtracks of life and a favorite song takes you back to a place or person.  And the song always takes you back to a feeling!

So you can learn quite a bit about a person from the music they are listening to.   Picture in your mind someone listening to Classical music and then picture someone listening to Van Halen.  Remember whenever you hear a new song your mind is listening and saying, “How does this song make me feel?”   If you feel nothing then you skip to the next song.   If you like it then the song resonates with something in your frequency of life and experience.  Choose your drug and enjoy the journey.   Anticipation is always better than arrival!
