My favorite song of all time is “In the air tonight” by Phil Collins. It captures a mood and message like no other song has ever done! I often watch the stadium live shows where he performs this amazing song. Every time it just blows me away in it's simple elegance, grace and power.
I wanted to write a song inspired by ITAT and so I wrote “In the Air Again”. I do not pretend to even approach the talent of Phil Collins but I wrote the song as more of a “Thank You for the Inspiration”. Trying to capture an emotion that is elusive and almost undefined but one that everyone instantly understands. I think the biggest compliment we can give to the musicians we admire is to be inspired enough to pick up an instrument and write a tune. Sometimes it is Eddie Van Halen's beautiful originality or the way Carlos Santana was the first to make a guitar sing. In this case it is the haunting melody and message of a song by Sir Phil Collins!
